El Buho Espadin Mezcal
El Buho Espadin Mezcal is produced from 100% Espadin agave, a type of agave that matures in 7-10 years and is known for its unique expression of the terroir of Oaxaca. The agave is harvested at full maturity and roasted with mesquite wood, resulting in a smokey spirit with a lot of character on the palate. Winner of the Best in Category award at the Spirits of Mexico Competition in 2017, this mezcal provides the classic smokey nose with an unusual briny note on the palate, alongside caramel, apple, and chili pepper notes. This excellent bottle is a collaboration between Brooklyn-based chef TJ Steele and the Jimenez Mendez family, who have been making mezcal for five generations. The result is a traditionally produced spirit contemporary palates will love.
